Three Point
Lighting

The most typical lighting setup used in movies is the three-point lighting system. It makes use of a back light, a key light, and a fill light (or rim light). Using three lights coming from three distinct angles gives people and objects a sense of depth.

About Me

Key Light

The key light uses a harsh shadow of the subject on one side of the subjects sides whilst the other half is illuminated.

Fill Light

The fill light reduces the shadow however the subject will still remain 'lit' and the background appears 'flat'

Cry Us a River

Back Light

The back light is placed behind the subject to create a slight glow in order to create a halo like effect and making the background appear as 'flat'

Climate Change, Reversed

Full Light

Full light is when all the lights are used and directed on the subjects, it eliminates all the shadows completely and focuses its light on the subject

Silhouette Light

The noir light is when the subject is directly stood in front of the light in order to create a shadowed effect on the subject.

Noir Light

The subjects face is directly above the lighting inorder to create a 'spooky' like visual.
